• Just passing through...

    ..and thought i`d update.

Baby took his first steps last Friday! Blimey, he`s not a baby anymore! He`s incredibly cute, wobbling unsteadily on his cute fat little feet...then he makes a dash for it from one settee to the other! Cutie cutie cuteness!

Then on Friday evening our huge big fat mum to be pussy cat finally *popped* and she is now the proud mummy of five gorgeous all grey (blue) kittens who have inherited their daddy`s chunky genes.

Didn`t do much over the bank holiday really, true to form it rained and rained and rained and this summer has turned into the one that never was. There`s a definite hint of Autumn in the air in the Lancashire hills. It`s been so dull and dark and dreary in the mornings that the kiddies have actually slept in past nine o clock!

So it`s back to school next week, then i think there are 8 weeks `til halloween!!! 88|

    Righty Ho then
    Busy busy
I`ll catch up with you all soon...i have been reading, just not commented much.....sorry

  • Nosey Neighbours....

I must have the nosiest neighbours on the planet.

Whenever i go outside they appear, having a good look over the wall at me hanging out my washing. Watching me as i struggle with the wheelie bin on bin day, counting my wine bottles when i put them out for recycling.

They are pensioners and have far too much time on their hands in my opinion. They aren`t the lovely sweet type of pensioner though, oh no! They are the net curtain twitching, suspicious old farty types, always on the lookout for kids with a football and people walking their dogs....making sure they have a poop scoop under their arm.

They get up at the crack of dawn so they don`t miss anything and can`t even get to their blooming burglar alarm in time to switch it off, so without fail, every morning it goes off at 6.30. Well when you`ve been up half the night with a teething baby it begins to grate on your nerves somewhat!

Yesterday was the last straw. As it`s rained all weekend the kids couldn`t wait to play out when the rain stopped. They, and their friends, all sat on my garden wall next to my shed, exchanging sweets and dangling their legs in the sunshine. I watched them from my kitchen window thinking how sweet and innocent they all looked.

Well anyway, after tea the eldest pipes up that his sister and her friends had damaged some of the felt roofing on the shed. Without waiting to hear the facts or going out to inspect it, hubby starts moaning and shouting, blah blah blah and how they weren`t to sit on the wall again. Then it comes out that nosey neighbour had seen all this and gone to fetch his tool box and started to repair the bloody shed roof! I was in my house at the time, looking after the toddler and baby, yet he never saw fit to come and ask me!!!

Is it me, or is that well out of order? I don`t think he has any right to touch any of my property without asking me first, whether he thinks he`s doing me a favour or not!
Yet hubby thinks that i`m over reacting!
Now would that happen to be because Mr.Nosey also happens to be my hubby`s uncle?

It really gets me down cos hubby never stands up for me. He doesn`t want to cause any trouble or create any bad feeling, yet i feel that my home is not my own and i have no privacy. I`m even getting paranoid that Mrs.N.N has some bugging device and listens to my conversations through the walls!

It`s been going on for 12 years now. I remember when i first moved here and would leave my door on the catch during the daytime..... well that was until Mr.N.N walked in unannounced whilst i had my boobs out breastfeeding!

Then there was the time the man from the pru knocked when i was on the loo. I was heavily pregnant at the time and got the shock of my life when Mr.N.N walks in, again without an invite, and shouts up the stairs that the pru man had come for his money!!! He almost sent me into labour!

So now i lock my doors during the day and have nets up at my windows too. I check the coast is clear before i go outside like they do with that annoying Bucket woman in Keeping Up Appearances, and always make myself look busy when i`m outside so they can`t stop me and find out all my business!

It seriously gets on my nerves, and i know it shouldn`t, yet they are intimidating nosey old crows! I try to get my feelings across by being aloof with them, well as much as i can, yet i haven`t the guts to tell them how uncomfortable they make me feel. I wish i could, yet i know that they would come up with loads of excuses and how that`s just the way they are, different era and all that crap, and how the previous owners of our house never had a problem with them.

And that`s another thing! :)) This house used to be hubby`s mum and dad`s! So basically i can`t win. I feel like a square peg in a round hole....not up to the job and trying to walk in his mother`s ill-fitting shoes....

  • How do you toilet train a three year old who starts nursery school in four weeks?

So things have been a bit hectic in the Upstart household this week.

But then when i think about it it`s not been exactly hectic, but you know when you get one of those moods when everything seems like too much of an effort? Well it`s more like that really :**:

The school hols are wearing incredibly thin now. Only two weeks left in which to sort out uniforms and shoes and coats and underwear and then having to label it all....well not the undies obviously! And money`s tighter this year so i`ve decided to recycle as much of last school years stuff as i can. Well it`s fashionable these days isn`t it? :)) At one time it would have been frowned upon, sending your kids to school with `let down` trousers and the same old winter coat year after year....handed down obviously!

And third child starts nursery for the first time in four weeks. It`s the school nursery so it`s more formal than just a playgroup. They have to wear a uniform and are expected to sit still and read books and play musical instruments....well perhaps not that formal....but i think wet pants would be frowned upon...

And that is the problem  As he has only just turned three he will be the youngest in the class and he`s still not properly toilet trained!!! 8| So i have four weeks to bin the pampers and get him into his Thomas the Tank undies! It is not going well at all! He knows how to use the loo but prefers not to
So i`m thinking now that i should have been more encouraging these last few weeks instead of sitting here blogging whilst he sat eating worms in the garden!

That`s me through and through i always leave things to the last minute and then run around like a mad arse

So have fun everyone, but i really should be somewhere else...

  • My Stud Teddy....

I`ve just given my gorgeous boy Teddy his early morning cuddle....and sticking out of his mouth was a spider`s leg!
    How cute is that?

Teddy is the main boy in our house. Being my British Shorthair stud cat he`s responsible for giving the girlies a night to remember!

So for want of anything better to write today i`ll post a pic of him...and Shadow and Bunny too!

Have a great weekend everyone

  • SATS...

Still no SATS results for my son.

    It`s an absolute joke.

His school has received the results, but haven`t had the papers back so the teachers can`t check them :??: and until they do the parents and kids won`t be told....

If that`s the case then why don`t they just let the teachers mark them anyway? Or even better just assess what they can and can`t do...seeing as they`ve been teaching them all bloody year for crying out loud!!!

So the government publishes the league tables and we are still none the wiser!

It really pisses me off...when i think of the amount of pressure the stupid government puts these kids under, so they can totally balls the whole thing up. The amount of work these kids, and the teacher`s, are expected to do, the support the parents have to give...well i know for a fact that my other kids had to take a back seat this May.

So lots of angry faces today....cos this government stinks!!!

  • THE NORTH`S BIN SHAFTED!!!!

    Luke`s gone!

    OH MY GOD...NO!!!

It`s a bloody fix this year!

No way can us up in the north compete against Rex and his millionaire friends.

My pound against their millions on the `phone lines????

Big Brother is a total fix this year.....

Snotty bigotted big heads who are so out of touch with reality are gonna be in the final!!!!

    What a joke!!

Almost makes you want Mario back to tell `Princess` he`s seen better looking girls serving bacon sarnies in the local factory`s canteen!!!

Come on Lisa, Mikey and Stu...don`t let us down!!!!

  • The attic....

We have a huge attic in this old house of ours, which we have never really made good use of, preferring to stuff it to the rafters with christmas decorations and tons of old toys and baby things.

Well having a larger than average family, we`ve decided to utilise it and turn it into the eldest`s bedroom.

Now, i`m really quite jealous because it has original old beams and a gorgeous sloping ceiling and is totally different from the rest of the house, being more of a secret hideaway than a loftspace. We did consider it for the `master bedroom` :-/, but it isn`t very practical...having to climb up and down the precarious staircase umpteen times in the night to soothe teething babies...and i refuse to take the cot up too....

So eldest`s new pad it is.

I asked him to look online to give me a few ideas as to how he wanted it kitting out. I was thinking along the lines of bedding and wardrobes and storage and tasteful pictures and things.

And what did he save in the favourites file?

    A microwave
    A kettle
    A full size pool table
A gaming chair thing (like a fancy leather sports car seat that you sit in when you are playing PS3 games.
    And.....
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    A BEER FRIDGE 88| 88| 88|

    He`s only eleven!

Errr....i don`t think so somehow young man! If anyone is having a beer fridge in their bedroom it`s going to be me! :))

Have a great weekend everyone

  • Cockchafer...

When i was on holiday in early June, sat enjoying a glass of wine in the warm summers evening, one of these buggers flew into my face with an almighty `smack` and got entangled in my hair! I have never seen a flying bug so big in my life! Apparently they are commonly known as Maybugs because if you`re lucky enough, May is the time of year when you are most likely to see them in the UK.

Lucky?    It scared the living daylights out of me and practically violated me!

Eurgh! It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about it....

    img_2953

    cockchafer[1]
...and it was twice the size of the one on this blokes face!

  • Summer`s here...

    Oh yes indeedy!

    School holidays have arrived!

Yay!!! Although i just know the novelty will wear thin in..oh...a day or two!

No lie in though. After what`s seemed like weeks and weeks of dreary rainy mornings and having to physically drag my bairns out of bed, they were up with the larks this morning.

Eldest has summer school 88| No i`m not a cruel heartless mother! He was chosen for the Gifted and Talented Broadcast school, no less, and will be broadcasting the news via web, radio and local t.v by the end of this week :>>

I have fond memories of my own summer holidays. New sandals slapping on the pavement, home made ice lollies, picnics in the park (meat paste butties and cheap orange squash! Yeurgh!!!) they even had a huge paddling pool which we would play in and we never got poorly! Imagine what germs must have been in there?
Things are so different now. I used to go to the park with my sister and stay all day. My mum was soooo lucky! I`d never dream of allowing my kiddies to go to the park on their own, or play in a bacterial infested pee laden paddling pool!

    That saddens me :'(
I even sent the eldest off this morning in a taxi

Anyway, gabbing again...i probably won`t be around much for the next few weeks if everything goes according to plan...but then again...did i say that last year? :))

Hope its sunny where you are :D
